  3. Advisory Council role • Evolutionary • Evolving from original curricular & evaluative orientation to more consultative • A dance, not a march • Member profile helps determine role • Remains focused on life sciences • Functions shift over time • What are realistic expectations?

  6. Appointment Process • Candidates recommended from the greater KGI community • “Skin in the game” • Must be approved by Board of Trustees • CVs reviewed

  7. Why do they do it? • Interest in KGI • Interest in education • Remember their student days • “Give back” • Networking opportunities • Myriad other reasons

  8. AC member details • Three year tenure • Can be renewed at mutual agreement • Encouraged, but not mandated, to… • Participate • Contribute • Purposely flexible arrangement

  9. Participation • Semi-annual meetings • September • January/February with BOT overlap • “One other activity” • Ranges from small to significant • Past committees mixed results
