Plot In Soul Eater, MakaAlbarn and her weapon partner Soul Eater are students at Death Weapon Meister Academy "DWMA" (Shibusen) which is located in the fictional Death City in Nevada, United States. The school has many other students including Black Star with his weapon partnerTsubaki, and Death the Kid with his weapon partners Liz and Patty. The school is run by Shinigami, Death himself, as a training facility for weapons and the human wielders of those weapons, the meisters. Maka's goal, along with the other meisters, is to have their weapons defeat and absorb the souls of 99 evil humans and one witch, which will dramatically increase the power of the given weapon and turn them into death scythes, weapons capable of being used by shinigami. In the universe of Soul Eater, witches are powerful beings and the natural enemies of DWMA, as almost all of them have a destructive nature and desire anarchy.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met RandoAyamine, the artist of "Get Backers", he became RandoAyamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix'sGangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix'sGangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success. Atsushi Okubo (Author)

MAKA ALBARN Maka was born around the same time Black☆Star was taken in to the DWMA, which was approximately thirteen years prior to the series’ beginning. She apparently knew Black☆Star from a young age. Her mother, presently unnamed, was an esteemed Scythe Meister, and her father was Spirit, her mother's Weapon partner who became a Death Scythe under her hand. Maka was inspired from a very young age to become a student of Shibusen. SOUL EATER EVANS Soul came from an extremely rich family of musicians. He had an older brother called Wes, a violinist, whom he suffered an inferiority complex to, and although he himself had a talent for playing the piano, he was reluctant to exhibit this talent because he constantly knew that Wes was better than him. After finding out that he was a Demon Weapon however, he found that he was able to escape from his family tradition as musicians and strive to become a Death scythe instead. Main Characters
DEATH THE KID Kid suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, which is manifested as an obsession over symmetry, otherwise known as asymmetriphobia. Objects and surroundings that are symmetrical can distract him from missions, and will usually start to break down and have fits if he notices asymmetrical objects around him. Thus if anything is wrong by any measurement (a picture frame crooked, or not folding his toilet paper, for example), he will try to correct it right away, even at the expense of the mission at hand. His favorite number is 8, not only for its symmetry, but for the fact it divides out evenly. BLACK☆STAR At the beginning of the series, Black☆Star starts off as rather arrogant, loud immature and egotistic. Although he fights as an assassin, he prefers to forget the Way of Assassination by shouting and making his presence known, the reason being that he is a massive attention-seeker. He cannot stand having someone else get more attention than himself, and will proceed to beat down anyone more popular than him so he can be popular again. His loudness is often shown in his tendency to often shout when he speaks and his trademark cries of 'Ha Ha!' MAIN CHARACTERS;CONTINUED
