Reflex Level Gauge & Laminated Marine Windows Level gauges are devices for detecting and measuring the level of a fluid or gas in a tank or other storage container. These devices are commonly used to detect fluid levels in drums, tanks, pressure vessels, and other similar uses in industrial process applications – and can be found at Hanla IMS. When a direct physical measurement of the level of the fluid is not possible or practicable, such as when the fluid being measured is toxic or when the tank or vessel housing the fluid is sealed and under pressure, level gauges are frequently used. Reflex level indicators A reflex type level gauge works based on the optical principle of light refraction, relying on the fact that the refractive index of
light entering a liquid-filled region differs from that entering a vapor-filled area. A vertical chamber fills with fluid from the tank or vessel to form the gauge. The interface line between the liquid in the chamber and the vapor in the chamber dictates the level of fluid in the chamber, which matches the fluid level in the tank. A prismatic lens or prism glass window is attached to the chamber. Because light goes through the prismatic lens into the gauge without reflecting the observer in an area where there is liquid behind the lens, that region of the gauge appears dark or black. When light strikes a portion of the lens that has vapor behind it (above the liquid level), the light is reflected by the viewer, giving the appearance of silver or white. The great contrast created from the difference in light transmission and reflection between the two zones enables precise detection of the liquid level. Typically, each end of the gauge chamber has a valve that links directly to the tank or pressure vessel. The valves enable separation if the gauge has to be accessed for maintenance or if a leak occurs. Reflex level gauges are inexpensive to buy and use, and they make determining the level of fluid in a tank or vessel simple. They are perfect for use with transparent liquids that are difficult to see directly because of the strong contrast. Laminated Marine Windows Laminated marine windows are one of the most durable and robust forms of glass available. It's manufactured by joining two or more pieces of glass with an interlayer in between. This is
what gives the laminated glass its strength and keeps it from shattering if it is ever shattered. When tempered glass breaks, it creates a hole in the boat's side, but the plastic within laminated glass binds it together and helps keep the boat's water integrity, which is vital if it breaks in a storm. It works so well that the class societies have agreed to let us build a laminated glass window without storm shutters. Laminated glass has grown popular in a variety of sectors due to its robustness. It's been used to make automobiles for 80 years. Windshields are laminated glass items designed to keep both drivers and passengers safe in the case of a car collision. Architects, builders, and designers have employed laminated glass extensively in the creation of architectural blueprints. Aside from making these constructions safer, the laminated glass may also be utilized to deflect UV rays from the sun, making buildings more pleasant and lowering energy expenses.
