Attitude • We will explore our beliefs about our own positivity. • I will orally share a quote/statement/thought I wish to focus on for the 2014-2015 school year.
Secrets to a Positive Attitude • Know yourself • Positive self talk • Surround yourself with good energy • Have an attitude of gratitude • How do you start your day? Manage the messages you feed your mind • Understand you have a choice of how you think.

Pick a Quote any Quote • Self Reflection is IMPORTANT • Self Talk is IMPORTANT • What will you post for 2014-2015?

Discipline • We will look at common effective discipline strategies. • You will create a list of what students need or want from teachers.
The Discipline Plan • Develop a very specific discipline plan • Be consistent

Yes, it works for High School too! Small group interaction is still critical….even for high school. Consider these verbs from HIGH SCHOOL process standards. The student is expected to: Discuss Explain Interpret ETC….
Address - Help • How are students going to ask for help? • Ask three before me….works but it is vague.
Groups need Protocols Who leads Equalized Questions ?
Behaviors of Mastery • If on task, what would their behavior look like? • What behaviors indicate an off task mindset?
Attention Attention, I need Attention • Create a list of a student wants and needs using the following stems: • Students want teachers to be…. • Students want teachers who….
Remember… “When you lose control, that’s it, you’re through. You belong to your students, not they to you!”
