African American Read-In A Program hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Sigma Omega Chapter The purpose of the African American Read-In is to make literacy a part of African American celebrations during Black History Month by focusing children and their parents on the African American authors who tell the story of the struggles and the triumphs of African Americans. In addition to entertainment by featured guests, we spend time reading to children in small groups and rewarding each child with a book for their own home libraries written and/or illustrated by an African American. Please spread the word throughout your network of family, friends, co-workers and community contacts. If you have any questions, please contact Event Chair, Anize Appel (aappel@drexel.edu)
