Webvan.com was founded in the 1990s by Louis Borders Webvan.com was created to provide the service of online grocery shopping This idea raised $375 million in 18 months This company failed because it grew too fast too soon, and wasn’t able to attract enough customers It went out of business in 2001 Webvan.com
Was founded by Disney It started in 1998 and was similar to Yahoo, but had restrictions against adult material The business failed due to the lack of popularity, which caused Disney to take a write off of $790K Go.com
Kibu.com was founded by businessman Jim Clark This website was founded in 1999, and offered chat rooms for teenage girls The website brought in $22K, but due to lack of popularity and mismanagement, the company shut down However, the company managed to not run out of the $22million before they shut down Kibu.com
Our Dot Com Venture: InstaMovie For our dot com venture, we would create a company that distributes movies to users’ through their TV. They can order online, like Netflix, but the movies are not mailed, but downloaded right to your computer This is done to decrease costly mailing rates and increase convenience ($5 per month) Our Dot-Com Venture
