Introduction The Rwenzori Mountain range, a stretch of about 80 miles contains one of the most dramatic diversities of ecosystems in the world, for here within just a few miles from each other are the heat of tropical jungles and the cold of glacial ice. In fact, there are five distinct zones of habitation generating a world of amazing biodiversity. The Rwenzori region covers an area of 13,970 km² in the west of Uganda. Its is endowed with abundant natural resources with a wide variation of climatic conditions including wet lowland, dry savanna, wet mountain forest and alpine forest. These conditions support a wide range of agriculture practices and a growing tourist industry that provide key sources of peoples livelihoods.
