  1. DIRECTIONS: The following menu includes a variety of ways for your child to practice his/her spelling words. Each student is required to choose 3 activities to complete for homework. Please have your child complete the activities and have you initial the box when you have seen the completed activity. Spelling Choice Board Pattern Highlights Read each word. Write each word in pencil. Highlight the patterns you see. Ex: cat hat (highlight the “at”) Letter Generator Go to http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/letter_generator/ and type a FRIENDLY LETTER using all of your words this week. Print it out and turn it in. You can also write a friendly letter on a postcard and/or paper as well. ABC Order Write all of your spelling words in ABC order. Criss-Cross Words Write your words on graph paper and have them intersect using a common letter. WORD O R WORD Sticker, Magnet, or Stamp Spelling Use letter stamps or stickers to spell each of your words. If you use magnets, take a picture and print it out or email it to your teacher. Dictionary HuntRead each word. Spell each word. Write each word. Find each word in a dictionary. Write the page number next to word where it is located in the dictionary. Word Sort Look at your words and put them in groups. Write down the groups and explain how you sorted them. (examples: sort by # of syllables or letters, part of speech, beginning or ending letter, etc) Ladder Words Write each of your words like a ladder. example: w wo wor word Cursive Words Take a paper and fold it in half. On one side, write each word using print and on the other side, write each word in cursive. example: word word Cheese-It Spelling Use the Scrabble Cheese-Its to make each of your words. Take a picture and either print it out or email it to your teacher How much are your words worth? Write each word. Use coins to add up how much your word is worth. EX: WORD=36¢ Technology Go to following website and complete any activity using this week’s spelling words. Print out a spelling report to include it with your menu activities. www.spellingcity.com Rhyming Words Write each of your words AND a rhyming word that matches with each of them. You can type these, write them on paper, or any other creative way you’d like! Word Search Go to www.puzzlemaker.com to create and print a word find using all of your spelling words.
