What is Positive Behavior Interventions System (PBIS)? • This is a data driven program-monthly analysis • PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. • PBIS focuses on improving a school’s ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. • It is a SCHOOL-WIDE design for discipline. • It is team-based systematic planning. • It is for (and by) ALL students, ALL staff, and in ALL settings. • It is a program that can be upgraded as we go along. • We will survey the staff, students, and parents for upgrades.
What is different about PBIS? Organized system of Positive Behavior management in all settings Organized system of disciplinary action Clear school wide expectations with incentives and consequences Actual teaching of Positive Behavior expectations Behavioral recognition system for kids doing the right thing

Expectations: Classroom Hallway Cafeteria Restroom Recess Assemblies Dismissal Buses The following expectations are posted around the school. The PBIS team has created lesson plans for your convenience to help explain these procedures to your students. Each lesson plan should take 15-20 minutes. Please have the students model the behaviors and practice! CONSISTENCY is key and is necessary across grade levels!
