If a student meets at least one of the following requirements, that student will be eligible for Honors level courses at the secondary level
1. Teacher recommendation
2. C or better in previous similar subject Honors class
3. Report card grades of advanced in the specific subject on the grade 6 Standards-Based Report of Progress or a grade of 85% or better in similar subject College Preparatory class
6. 7th Grade English On Level:
4-6 major writing assignments
Introductory strategies/skills in writing
3 novels; grade level appropriate materials
Read and analyze short stories, plays, nonfiction and poetry
Honors:
6-8 writing assignments
Introductory & advanced strategies/skills in writing
5 novels; very challenging materials
