  6. Food Scenario • 20% of countries & 900 Millions Face • Gross Inadequate Food Supplies • 30 Countries have acute food shortages • Example: Somalia, Sudan, Rwanda, Congo • 800 million undernourished • 180 million children underweight • 1/3 of humanity consumes 2/3 of world food

  7. In Haiti, for Instance….. Pregnant women eat soil for calcium Children fed mud balls for breakfast

  8. Situation in India is No Better! • 1/3 go to bed starving every day • > ½ of malnourished children • Poor farmers • Farm suicides

  9. How to make both ends meet? Will Malthusian Predictions Take a Shape?? We Certainly Don’t Want That to Happen Then….. Where to Go for Food???
