Aims of This Session • To get to know with each other (Ex.1) • To overview the curriculum of the course and to clearly set the objectives and goals of the program • To identify needs and expectations of the participants and to make adjustments to the curriculum.
Self-Introduction • Exercise No.1 “Paired Interview” • Make pairs and interview your partner. • Take note of, among others, the followings: • Who he/she is (name, country, organization, position and job descriptions, etc.); • Expertise on OSHE and specific problems or needs in his/her country/organization; • Expectations to this program and personal goals to achieve at the end of the course.

Objectives of the Program This Course is aimed to: • Strengthen general capacity of trade unions in the area of OSHE; • Formation of “Trade Union Policy” on OSHE to improve the OSHE situation • Development of Trade union training programs on OSHE
To form Trade Union Policy on OSHE We need to identify: • Current OSHE Situations in your country • Statistics (trends, types of problems, etc.) • Legal framework (Ratification of ILCs, National Laws) • Institutional framework (OSHE committees, etc) • Identification of Priority Issues and Target Groups; • Instruments to be used (ILS, resources, examples) • Strategies to be taken (output, method, approach) • Action Plan (actions with time-frame)
To develop Training Program on OSHE We need to identify: • Current OSHE Situations in your organization • Statistics (trends, types of problems, etc.) • Institutional framework (OSHE committees, etc) • Identification of Needs, Priorities and Target Groups; • Programs (what to be taught) and resources • Strategies to be taken (output, method, approach) • Action Plan (actions with time-frame)
Output of this Course • “Work Plan” • Specific set of action plans with clear targets, which you (or your organization) will implement after this program; • It should include all the elements specified in the previous slide; and • It must be feasible and implementable (consideration of available resources).
Time-frame for developing Work Plan • 1st week (by 19 Oct.) • Decide theme of your work plan; • 2nd week (by 26 Oct.) • Complete outline of your work plan; • 3rd week (by 2 Nov.) • Finalize your work plan; • 4th week (by 9 Nov.) • Fine-tune your work plan.
Time-Table of this Course • 1st week: Understanding International Instruments • Introduction to ILO and International labour standards • Basic OSHE principles • OSHE Conventions and Recommendations • OSHE Management System • 2nd week: T.U. Policies/Actions/Priorities/Strategies • Current Situations in Asia and the Pacific • Good examples of trade union actions in Asia and the Pacific • Experiences of European Trade Unions • Specific Gender OSHE issues • 3rd/4th weeks: Consolidating your knowledge
Study Visits - In order to consolidate and deepen your knowledge, skill and expertise on OSHE • ILO-Geneva • From Sunday, 28 Oct. to Tuesday, 30 Oct. • Visit ILO/ACTRAV, SafeWork, HIV/AIDS • Japan • From Saturday, 3 Nov. to Saturday, 10 Oct. • Visit JILAF (host organization) and JTUC-Rengo • You will go back home from Japan
IT Training Laboratory • 17:30 - 19:00 at Computer Lab. 1 • With external collaborator (Mr. M. Scala) • To improve your IT skill to fully utilize online resources on OSHE • Training possibly includes: • Advanced usage of e-mail and Internet • Advanced HTML techniques to build up effective Internet homepages • Multimedia designs for on-line training materials
Evaluation • Daily Summary • Weekly Evaluation • End of the Course Evaluation and Conclusion of the Training Course • Post-Course Evaluation • Implementation of Work Plan and After-1year-Ealuation Questionnaire
