How to Write a Resume And get a recommendation that really represents YOU!
Let’s begin • The following is a template for an educational resume. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but rather a list of ideas to get you organized. This is YOU on paper so do your best to make it reflective of who you are and how you would like to be perceived.
Introduce yourself • Top of the page • Name • Address • Phone number • e-mail address • Over-all GPA • Class rank
The body of your resume • Sections or categories (each of these sections should go in chronological order from most recent to past) • Class List - (Classes you have taken from 12 grade through 9th) • Academics - (AP Exams, honor roll, Awards, scholarships etc...) • Athletics - sports played, letters received, team captain, awards • Extra Curricular Activities – • Music • Drama • ASB/Class Officer • Clubs • Community Service/Volunteer Work • Travel and Leisure
Some helpful tips… • Make your copy clean, neat and easy to read. • For some activities and clubs you will need to annotate (give brief information about the club or activity) so that the reader understands its importance. • This resume is for teachers, counselors, and any one else you would like to write you a letter of recommendation. This sheet can be used for college letters of recommendation, scholarships, job applications, etc....
