Information • Occupation- She was an American illustrator, writer, and educator who was famous with her work in nature studies. • In 1895, Comstock joined the New York State Committee for the Promotion of Agriculture. While part of this committee, she started an experimental program where she helped teach public school students about nature studies. After the program was approved for statewide use by Cornell, Comstock began to educate teachers about what needed to be taught in the nature curriculum and made sure schools had the proper classroom materials for the class.
More info. • Comstock also co-authored in her husband’s Manuel for the Study of Insects(1895), Insect Life (1897), and How to Know the Butterflies (1904) which helped people gain a better perspective on information of insects. • One of Comstock’s most famous books was the Handbook of Nature Study(1911).
