Key activity milestones • Consolidate WIS plans: up to 2008 • Project and implementation plan reviewed by ICG-WIS - Framework supported. • Task leaders reporting to project manager to maintain timelines and inter relationships current. • Framework allows revision of priorities of tasks to maintain time lines. • Developregulatory documents:up to 2008 • GISC DCPC approvals endorsed by Congress in May. • Focus will be on providing guidelines and best practice over next 12 months. • Tech regs etc will be done in line with other projects after 2009 • Develop security procedures: 2007-2008 • Being undertaken under GISC development within virtual organisations • Implement first operational GISC: 2008 • Implement other operational GISCs: 2009 - 2011 • Implement DCPCs: 2008-2011 World Meteorological Organization
Key activity milestones • Consolidate WIS plans: up to 2008 • Developregulatory documents:up to 2008 • Develop security procedures: 2007-2008 • Implement first operational GISC: 2008 • India aiming for GISC 2nd Quarter 2008 • Europe 1st quarter 2009 (WIS Pilot VGISC) • Russia 1st quarter 2009 • Japan & China also 2009 • Implement other operational GISCs: 2009 - 2011 • Other countries coming online including Australia, and possibly Brazil • Implement DCPCs: 2008-2011 • Through RA-VI VGISC • NCAR pilot DCPC major contributor to IP3 • JCOMM E2EDM portal (Oblinsk) functional • EUMETSAT & ECMWF part of VGISC project • JCOMM planning to extend E2EDM to other NODCs • IPY looking at DCPC • WMO Commissions looking at DCPC as per JCOMM World Meteorological Organization

Summary • Participation in GEOSS is a priority • WIS is on track for operations next year • Some components used in IP3 pilots now • IP3 demonstrates benefits to WMO of collaboration with non-WMO community • GEO connectivity can begin in earnest with first GISCs in 2008 & 2009 World Meteorological Organization
