Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) • EPP: “products or services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared with competing products or services that serve the same purpose.”
EPP ProductsInclude: Recycled content products, such as recycled plastic furniture Energy conserving fluorescent lights Bio-based inks Less toxic cleaners
Why Use EPP Products? • Recycled Aluminum Cans: • 95% less energy than virgin cans • 100% Recycled Paper: • 1 ton saves 17 trees and 7,000 gallons of water • Energy Star Computers & Monitors: • 3,000 energy efficient computers reduce greenhouse gases=removing 168 cars (Phoenix: 2007 Green Electronics Champion) • Reduced Toxicity and Risk
