Like Terms • Terms that are alike or the same. • Examples: Constants (plain numbers) : 2, 17, -1 3x and 5x and -2x: all have the same variable : All have the same variable of 2xy and 3yx: order of variables does NOT matter.
Unlike Terms Terms that are different Examples: 3x and because x and are different 3 and 3x because “3” is a constant and “3x” has a variable 3x and 3y because x and y are different variables Remember:
