  3. 1999-2000 School Report Card • Overall grade B- • 93% of systems in clear • 88% of schools in clear • 4% of systems in caution • 6% of schools in caution • 3% of systems in alert • 5% of schools in alert

  4. Academic Performance All grades and all disciplines tested at or above the national average

  5. Achievement/AbilityComparison Shows the relationship between student’s scores on the Stanford achievement test and the scores of other students of similar ability.

  6. Writing Performance • Tests students in the 5th and 7th grade • Measures writing skills • New benchmark

  7. ACT Testing • College entrance exam • This chart shows the average score for seniors • More Alabama students take this test now than ever (68% of graduates) • Eleven percent of Alabama students taking the test were from low income families, which is above the national average of 8%

  8. Dropout Rate This number represents the percent of students in the 9th grade in 1999 who are projected to leave school prior to graduation in 2002. The letter grade compares Alabama to the national average.
