Area 51 By: Trevor Wood
Background • Located in Nevada • Other names include: • Dreamland • Groom Lake • 1965- finished being built • Very private; only certain government officials allowed
The common story • It is said that Area 51 was built to keep all the crashed UFO aircrafts from the public. • Many rumors about Alien sightings in that area • A radio talk show host said he had a video of an alien being questioned in an interrogation room by scientists and CIA officials • None of this was ever proven!
My theory • The whole E.T. stuff is just a big hoax • Its just a cover-up of all the secretive things that take/took place there. • - after all, this was during the Cold War • The government needs a private place to experiment new things and keep important materials away from the public. • If there was any kind of aliens captured or UFO space crafts found, we would have been told about it by now.
Continued… • Area 51 is most likely where they make nuclear bombs, and build aircrafts that have very powerful nuclear weapons attached • Since it was built during the Cold War and constructed around the time of all the major Cold War events, I think it remained classified to keep communists from telling the Soviets everything we were doing. • The alien stories were started to keep the public’s mind from thinking about what was really going on beyond those gates.
More info • In the early 1990’s, a lawsuit was filed against the government because cities in the surrounding areas had cancer rates increase and area 51 employees were dying due to all the radiation. • They ordered Area 51 to be regulated and maintained to stop this from happening. • President Clinton stepped in and signed an Executive Order exempting Area 51 from environmental regulation in September, 1995.
More info • This order was the most formal acknowledgement of Area 51 by the government. • They referred to it as “the Air Force’s operating location…” • As of today, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is allowed to come in and inspect the facility to make sure it meets environmental requirements. • However, all the information on it is classified and cannot be released to the public.
