ATAC is the company managing the whole urban transport system in the City of Rome (trains, tramway, subway, and bus). MAIN PROJECT OBJECTIVE: The main objective of the ISSTE project is to increase safety and security in public surface transport by establishing an innovative curriculum for drivers training • Innovative Curriculum Testing • Training processEvaluation • Recommendations for Accreditation/Certification methodologies
The content of SAFETY AND SECURITY DRIVERS TRAINING INNOVATIVE CURRICULUM A. THEORETIC TRAINING 1. Road Legislation 2. Technicalities about the vehicles 3. Safety Driving 4. Driving Theory 5. Safety Norms and Fire Prevention 6. First Aid and Medical Notions B. PRACTICAL TRAINING: The Training duration - in accordance with the 2003/95/EC Directive.
The Added Value: • Specific occupational standards for drivers were considered • Innovative curriculum includes dedicated modules for S&S • European collaboration for elaborating similar procedures for drivers training • Permanent feed-back procedure on training process • Integrated training system with continuous monitoring of acquired knowledge and skills • Optimized time span for training modules
CURRICULA TESTING ATAC (Rome) RATB(Bucharest) • 24 bus drivers (ranging between 6 and 17 years of corporate experience and selected based on a S&S questionnaire) • 35 training hours • training only for the S & S issues • 2 sets of questionnaires including drivers feedback • 96 trolleybus drivers – divided in 4 classes (selected from those who registered various traffic incidents in the last 3 years) • 200 total training hours • training on S&S issues and other current topics • 4 sets of questionnaires and 1 for drivers feedback • Positive feedback from the drivers
