Flower • Reproduction or creating new plants occurs (happens) in the flower part of a plant • In the lesson we will learn the process of plant reproduction
Flower (Male) • The male part of the flower is called the Stamen • The stamen contains two parts called • Filament • Anther • The Anther produces the Pollen Granules which contains the SPERM
Flower (Female) • The Female part of the plant is called the Pistil • The Pistil is made from 4 parts • Stigma • Style • Ovary • Ovule

Insect is Attracted (Petal) • The Petal of the flower has a very important purpose • The Petal is colorful & smells good because it is meant to attract an insect • Bee lands on the flower and gets pollen from the Anther stuck to his feet (Male)
Bee Flies to another Flower • The bee then flies to another flower looking for some nectar to eat • When he lands the pollen on his feet is dropped onto the Stigma of the plant (Female)
Pollen Roles down the Stigma The Pollen contains the sperm which will later fertilize the egg (seed) of the plant • The pollen roles down through the STYLE and into the OVARY • From the OVARY it finds its way into the OVULES where the egg is awaiting fertilization • POLLINATION is the process by which pollen moves from the STAMEN to the PISTIL
Fertilization Occurs • When the pollen touches the egg inside the Ovule FERTILIZATION of the egg occurs and the egg starts growing • The egg grows into a SEED as the plant develops

The Wind Blows • The wind starts blowing and blows the seed into the air • Wind dies down and the seed drops down into the ground

The Plant Grows Up • The plant grows up and develops into an adult plant and the process repeats itself
FUN FACTS • The seed of the flower depending on what kind of plant it is can develop into a fruit (orange tree) • Then the fruit will contain the seeds • When fertilization of an egg takes place it creates a WHOLE NEW ORGANISM • The time of year (summer, spring, fall or winter) a plant flowers depends on the amount of SUNLIGHT or DAILY HOURS OF DARKNESS during the season (most plants flower in the summer because there are more hours of sunlight) • If you are trying to prevent reproduction of a plant all you need to do is cut off the MALE PART or FEMALE PART of the plant
