Attendees • Phone Call today: • Attending: • Lamont (Itturino et al.) • UT (Flemings and Andrews). • Grigar (TAMU) • Pettigrew (MOHR) • Not Attending: • Myers (IODP-MI)?, Germaine (MIT)
Agenda • Agenda: • Attendees • Site Meeting—Mohr-Houston--8am--Wed. July 8 • Confirm year 1 schedule • Discuss MFTM-RSOVERSHOT issue • Subcontract status • Lamont • Mohr
Project Structure YEAR 1) • Design and build a prototype of the MDHDS • the probe will be built at Mohr Engineering with supervision by Penn State. YEAR 2) • Field test and integrate with downhole tools • the probe will be field tested and protocols will be developed for deployment with supervision by the USIO.
Year 1: MDHDS & Telemetry Development: UTIG will be responsible for managing 1) the final design and manufacturing of the MDHDS, 2) the completion of the telemetry system, and 3) the interactions between Mohr Engineering and the USIO (both TAMU and Lamont) During the year, there will be monthly conference calls and meetings in Houston with Mohr Engineering. The purpose of these meetings will be to ensure the development is meeting project goals and to address any design changes that occur. Germaine, Flemings, and a TAMU USIO and a Lamont USIO engineer will participate in meetings and conference calls. At the end of Year 1, a fully manufactured prototype delivery system will be delivered to the USIO for testing.
Project Description: • The Borehole Research Group (BRG) at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) will • deliver a working telemetry system to transmit data from the MDHDS to the rig floor. This SOW • shall refine the requirements for a Telemetry system needed to transmit selected engineering data • from a pore pressure penetrometer via a standard logging cable in conjunction with the MDHDS. • The Telemetry system shall consist of three (3) subsections (fig 1) • • Multi-Functional Telemetry Module (MFTM) • • Schlumberger 7 conductor Wireline cable • • Telemetry Surface Control Panel (TSCP) • The MFTM provides the following functions: • • Capture data stream from probe attached to the Inner Subassembly (e.g., such as • DVTPP or T2P) • Monitors three-axis acceleration • • Monitors internal temperature • • Formats output data stream and Broadcasts to Surface Panel • • Latches to top of Outer Subassembly • The TSCP provides the following functions: • • Captures formatted data stream from MFTM • • Supplies power to the MFTM • • Formats output data stream to serial RS232 for interface to computer • Scope of Work: • The scope of this SOW covers from the underwater pressure bulkhead connector at the bottom of • the MFTM to the RS232 output on the TSCP. LDEO, TAMU and Dr. Peter Flemings (Principal • Investigator, University of Texas, Austin) will jointly agree to communication protocols between • Appendix 6: Lamont Doherty Borehole Research Group Statement of Work, • Budget, & Budget Justification
