  4. Reaction – p. 216 • What are some other reasons why people or groups might misrepresent information on the internet? Don’t copy, just answer!!!

  5. Website Activity • Travel around the room to examine the websites on the walls • For each website you must answer three questions… • How does this group present itself? • What is the real purpose of this group? • How and why has this group hidden its true purpose?

  6. If you finish early… • Which of the websites you examined today do you think was the most deceptive and why? Be specific!!! Don’t copy, just answer!!!

Notes p. 217 Finding Credible Informationon the Internet • Check the website address or URL • .eduis a school, .org is an organization, .gov is the government, and .com is a business • Look for an “About Us” tab and a “Contact Us” tab with information about the people who run the site • Check to see if the information on the site is recent by checking for dates • All of the links on credible sites should be working • Judge for yourself – If a site doesn’t look trustworthy to you, look somewhere else
