  7. Meet the parents • Initial idea : stimulating student demand (NALSSP) • Birth of Parental Polyglots

Parental Polyglots: Language courses for parents Aims • to enhance the support provided by parents to language learners and to build parental support which is often pivotal for the sustained delivery of the language by the school. • to expose parents to how languages are taught in the 21st century. • to enable parents to provide modelling to their children thus making language learning a valued endeavour.

  9. Who could apply? • Schools with an existing Languages program

  10. What did the grant cover? • Funding was made available to support the implementation and delivery of regular language courses for the parents/caregivers of students attending the school.

  11. Information to be provided by applicants • How will you evaluate the impact of this activity on parental involvement with their child’s language learning and/or attitude towards continuity in language learning?
