vocabulary • Warm up—a period of mild exercise that gets your body ready for vigorous exercise • Exercise frequency—the number of times you exercise each week • Exercise intensity—the amount of energy you use when you exercise • Exercise time—the amount of time you spend during one exercise session • Cool down—a period of gentle exercise that gets your body ready to stop.
Exercise session • 1st Warm up • Then Work out • Always Cool down
Warm up • Doing things to get the muscles warm and moving through the range of motion. • Similar things as what you will be doing like lay ups for basketball, just at a slower pace. • Some stretching. A slow gradual pull. Not over stretching.
Workout • Have a plan to meet your fitness goals • This includes frequency, intensity, and time. • Your goals should have smaller goals to help achieve big ones. • Mix up the activities. A variety helps beat boredom. .
Cool down • Slower activities that continue to move muscles through their range of motion. • Important so you don’t get sore muscles or deprive nutrients to the brain. • More stretching.
Safe fitness tips • Safe place to exercise • Safe time • Proper clothing • Light colored or reflective clothes at night • Layer clothing during cold weather exercise • Good shoes • Stay hydrated • Proper technique—running, lifting, etc. • Increase exercise levels gradually. Don’t over use muscles • Know the difference between injury and soreness. • Use motivation techniques—music, friendsa
