  1. Analisi/CMSnotes(+NIM) dei muoni previste per i dati CRAFT M.C.Fouz DPG 5/2/09 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  2. Overview: Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  3. Vdrift CMSnote 2008/001 CRAFT M.C.Fouz DT-DPG 4/12/08 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  4. Towards a CMS note on CRAFTresults from DT Local Muon Reco… “draft0” on: http://www.pd.infn.it/~ugs/temp/CRAFT/NoteLocalReco/ Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  5. Intro • We have plenty of good data and (preliminary/partial) results from the full • DT detector, operating highly efficiently for ~1 month of CRAFT operations • working on a “Reconstruction results” paper may help also on focusing on • problems, refining algorithms/ procedures, improving calibration/alignemnts… • in one word , preparing ourselves at best for pp data taking • NOT a “chamber performance” paper (at least in my view…there may well be • one other paper (or more than one) on this, of course); focus here is on • reconstruction of the “building blocks” of a muon track • May be merged at the end with content of another note on global muon reco results, • for an external (e.g. NIM) publication Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  6. Local Reco note: proposed layout 1.Intro CRAFT description & motivation, general operations… 2. DT setup, conditions, triggers… 3. Local Reco algorithms short remind, reference to existing notes (one is ongoing). 4. Calibration needed for “1st level rechits”, which are input to pattern recognition; ttrigg results, stability (there may be some overlap with vdrift note) 5. Results rechit level: 1st level 2nd level with t0 refit final resolutions segments & their correlations: alignment issues, measurement of bending capability, mult. scattering effects ; (dedicated note on showering ) In following slide a few example of material… (+ some attempt to propose work to interested persons…) Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  7. 1. From times to rechits: Ttrigg Stability & uniformity Maselli/Cerminara (old plot on CRUZET data) Silvia/Sara to provide material/text for this paragraph ? M.C.Fouz, CRAFT jamboree 11/12/08 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  8. 2. Rec Hits Example: YB0 sect 4 **Before** t0 fit: input to pattern recognition/ segment building data MC All chambers should be 240 chambers (- a few switched off) **just a draft example** Gianluca, Stefano L. likely to come from inclined sectors… verify calibration there… Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  9. Cell efficiency & RecHits On MC, we have this… (“Local muon Reco in DT”, CMS note in preparation): Francesca? d Can we do the same on data ? (replacing dsim with dextrap.) Well established procedure for cell efficiency Computation since chamber commissioning Show overall results (in terms of cell efficiency averaged on a SL) May affect hit multiplicity In segments; we do see differences w.r.t. simulations (see below) M.C.Fouz, CRAFT jamboree Nov ‘08 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  10. t0 fit T0 correlation between chambers, TOF measurements…. Anna Anna M. CRAFT meeting 4/12/08 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  11. Hit residuals: YB-2, Sect 4 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  12. Fit results in all chambers **just a draft example** Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  13. Segments: associated Hit multiplicities local angle directions: Data-MC comparison may be crucially dependent on trigger assumptions/selections… Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  14. Segments: efficiencies MB3 • Using interpolations between • neighbouring stations Santolalla - Using extrapolation from tracker A.Branca, P.Bellan F.Cavallo MB2 MB1 MB4 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  15. Angle correlations: Dphi @ B=0, alignment issues Run70675 (end of CRAFT: 11/11/2008 ) Run66475 (begin of CRAFT: 16/10/2008 ) Alicia, Ugo Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  16. Dphi fits, all stations Run70675 difference Run70675- Run66475 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  17. Bending MB1-MB2 discuss also mult. scattering evolution… is it what we expect from material, p,… Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  18. Bending: MB2-MB3 MB1-MB4 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  19. Altre note: • Specifici layout dei contenuti non ancora presentati • Prossimi step: DTDPG 12/2/09 • Muon Barrel workshop • CERN 16-17 Febbraio: • first review Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  20. AoB: B field studies Method: bending between consecutive stations (using pT from Tracker): Alicia/Ugo Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  21. B field (II) Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  22. B field studies (III) Method: extraplation from Tracker Francesca/Anna Average of residuals of XmeasDT-Xextrap (cm): MB4 MB3 MB2 MB1 lower sectors note asymmetry upper sectors pT (Tracker) Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  23. AoB: alignment • Study geometry of MBn station extrapolating good quality • segments originating from a defined (relatively small region: • ~ a few DT cells long) in MBn-1 • - Study residuals of segments in MBn w.r.t. extrapolations, as a • function of local position in MBn MBn MBn-1 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  24. Alignment (II) MB2, MB3 & MB4 chambers in Sect.4, all wheels: **before** SL corrections MB3 MB2 MB4 YB-2 YB-1 YB0 YB+1 YB+2 Pd/sw-analysis meeting

  25. Alignment (III) ** after** SL corrections YB-2 YB-1 YB0 YB+1 YB+2 these looks like rigid relative displacements (O(~1 mm)) between chambers in same sector Pd/sw-analysis meeting
