Lesson 2 Creating Appealing Text By: Jerade Bucher
Objective/Requirements • My objective in this lesson is to teach you how to make text that is appealing. Whether you it apply it to a graphic image or website, the way the text looks is important. Requirements: -Adobe Photoshop CS4
Opening Photoshop… • Go to your start menu and check to see if it’s in your shortcuts. • If it is not in your shortcuts then go to All Programs Graphics Adobe Design Premium CS4.
Creating the File… • Go to File New. For this text less you want the size to be 375 pixels by 115 pixels. • If you would like, fill the background with a solid color using the paint bucket tool. **Make sure your background color won’t clash with the color you choose for the text later on**
Starting the Text… • Click on the text symbol (it looks like a ‘T’) and make a rectangle. The rectangle size should be small if you are typing a short word/phrase and large if you are typing a long word/phrase. • Type the word/phrase.
Adjusting the Text… • If you want to expand the rectangle or angle the text, use the squares surrounding the text to do so. • Highlight the text and change the size, color, and font to your likings.
Customizing the Text • If you like the text the way it is then that’s fine. I think it’s best to add more though. • Look in the layers area(normally bottom right corner) and right click the text layer. Select blending options. When the Layer Style window opens you will see a bunch of options with checkboxes beside them. Go through the different effects to see what you like. I normally use drop shadow and outer glow, but that’s just my style.
My Example… TA-DA!
Just Remember… ☻ • Learning how to make appealing text can be very useful later on.
