Create a menu or a newspaper or billboard ad. • Menus can include the following: • categories like "Entremeses" (appetizers), "PlatosPrincipales" (main courses), "Postres" (desserts) and "Bebidas" (drinks) • prices in the currency of a Spanish-speaking country such as pesos, queztales, colones, bolívares or córdobas, according to student research. • Menus can provide the opportunity to look at comparative structures as well as feminine and masculine endings: "La langosta es cara. El pollo es másbarato." (The lobster is expensive. The chicken is cheaper/less expensive.) • Newspaper and billboard ads should include the name of the restaurant, a slogan, an illustration, and phone number. Use 985-555-1234.

  5. Activity • While in pairs, you will follow the commands below as I state them. • Have a seat. Tome asiento. • Pick up… Coge… • Put…down. Pone… For example: “Coge el menú.” (Pick up the menú.) • In pairs, give commands/requests to each other. • Say to one another: • "Necesito..." (I need...) "...un tenedor…" (…a fork…) “por favor.” (…please.) • “Pásame…“ (Pass me…) “...la sal…" (…the salt…) “por favor.” (…please.)

  6. Activities: • Useful restaurant phrases: • "¿Quédesean comer?" (What would you like to eat?) • "Me gustaría..."/"Quisiera..." (I would like...) • "De postre, quiero.." (For dessert, I'll have...) • "La cuenta, por favor." (Check, please.) • In pairs or groups of three, take turns playing server and dinersby ordering a complete meal with drinks and dessert. • Servers can recommend menu items: • "Yo le recomiendo..." (I recommend...) • Customers can take or leave the suggestions: • "No, tráigame ..." (No, bring me...).

  7. Ask a Classmate! A. Interview your classmates in Spanish to find who fits the following descriptions. "¿Quién..." (Who...?) "...tomacafé?" (drinks coffee?) “ ¿Quién prefierepescado?" (prefers fish) ¿Quién no come carne?" (doesn't eat meat) ¿Quién cuentacalorías?" (counts calories) B. Create your own question using the examples above. Write your question in Spanish on one side of the index card and in English on the opposite side. C. Class Response to Student-created Questions

  8. Off to the Races! You will be placed into two teams. I will state a restaurant term in English. Two students from each group will race to write the correct answer on the team’s dry erase board, while saying it, and showing the written response to score a point for their team.   16. PRESENTATIONS OF SCENARIOS • You have been placed into a pair or group. I will review the pairs/groups and scenarios. Please write down your scenario # and partner or group members. • We will review the scenarios and dialogue again. Please write down the ENTIRE dialogue for your preselected scenario while documenting YOUR specific dialogue. • Make sure you copy all dialogue correctly, including spelling. • On Monday, May 5th, you will present your scenarios. It will be recorded to compile various scenes in order to create an entire dining experience. • The best presentations will be selected for the video.
