GSBUG Hardware Info SIG • CPUs: 2003 Update • Central Processing Unit (CPU) - the principal integrated circuit used for doing the “computing” in “personal computing”. Generally referred to as the “processor”. • Major Manufacturers: • Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) – www.amd.com • Intel – www.intel.com • VIA Technologies (VIA) – www.via.com.tw
GSBUG Hardware Info SIG • CPUs: 2003 Update (continued) • This presentation is a survey of processors which are generally available and processors which will soon be “generally available” in the marketplace. Many older processors are also still available on a limited basis. See the processor manufacturer’s web site for info and www.pricewatch.com for availability. • The range of processor speeds noted is per Price Watch (slowest) and the manufacturer’s web site (fastest). The faster processors may not yet be generally available.
