You are adding excess HCl to antacid tablet, then determining how much extra acid is present by titrating with NaOH. • If your solution is not reddish when you add 75 mL of the 0.2 M acid, you will have to add more (make sure you get exact volume!). • It might take a little time to dissolve tablet, after a few minutes you can carefully crush with glass stirring rod. • Do at least two tablets. • You should add a little bit of the 0.2 M NaOH to buret and swish around a bit then discard in waste jug. This is called priming the buret. • You should discard titrations in waste jug as well • Sample calculations are in handout. Other Notes
