  6. TOD 601- Yes or No? • Step 1 – Read the sentence as it is. • Step 2 – Read the sentence with the phrase deleted or added. • Step 3 – Ask yourself: What happens when you delete or add the phrase? DO NOT LOOK AT THE ANSWER CHOICES UNTIL YOU DO THIS FIRST! • Step 4 – Now look at the answer choices below and see which one best matches what you wrote down.

  9. Sentences: The literature professor realized the poem might be too esoteric for her new students. Most employees secretly thought their boss’s speech was esoteric, but they applauded as though they had understood.

  10. Olfactory Part of Speech: Adj. Definition: • relating to the sense of smell. Synonyms: fragrant, odorous, aromatic Antonyms: odorless

  11. Sentences The smelly shoes upset the kitten’s olfactory organ. The author’s description of the fragrant flowers provided the reader with an olfactory image.

  12. Exit Ticket • Complete BOTH SIDES of your exit ticket. • If you are done with the exit ticket early, begin working on your practice sheet for Homework. • Hand in your exit ticket after the bell has rung on your way out of class.
