BENEFITS FOR LAUNCHING A NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM IN CONSTRUCTION (1) • To create a critical mass of construction stakeholders (Large companies, SMEs, Research Centres, Universities …) around construction research. • To make a joint vision and strategy for R&D towards 2030, lead by industry with the support of research organisations, adapted to the necessity of the country for sustainable development. • To develop an Strategic research Agenda and an Implementation Action Plan to achieve the vision. • To integrate (involve) national R&D Public authorities into the launching and support of the platform. • Possibility of collaboration with National administrations in the elaboration of the research programmes and to include specific research areas for construction sector. • To mobilize national research funding bodies for a higher investment on R&D and in particular in construction. 3rd Conference on Construction - Coimbra 18th of December 2007
BENEFITS FOR LAUNCHING A NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM IN CONSTRUCTION (2) • It is a mean for a better visibility and promotion of whole sector and individual organisations. • It is a collaboration framework for launching research projects at National and European level and for the dissemination and exploitation of project results. • To make organisations aware of national RTD programs as well as European ones, such us, FP7, CIP, EUREKA, IBEROEKA, RFCS. • It is an important link for contacting other National Platforms and the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP), benchmarking activities and joint activities for research. • It is a channel to involve National authorities in ERA-NETs, Example: Spanish Construction Platform as support authorities to participate in two ERA-NETs construction related: ERACOBUILD and Cultural Heritage. • It gives a better opportunity for Portuguese organisations to be involved in European R&D. 3rd Conference on Construction - Coimbra 18th of December 2007
SPANISH CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM MAIN FACTS • Started as a virtual association in October 2004. www.construccion2030.org • The Structural Organisation is composed by a General Assembly, High Level Group (CNC) , Support Group (DRAGADOS), Mirror and Advisory Group, Focus Areas and a Secretariat (SEOPAN). • Currently it is composed of 170 organisations. Large companies 36%, SMEs 19%, Research Centres and Universities 22%, Associations and others 23%. • A vision 2030 and a Strategic research Agenda have been developed in 2006.
