  1. Mitosis Nuclear division of eukaryotic cells. Asexual reproduction..

  2. Spindle fibers Spindle fibers arise from the centrioles ( centrosomes)of eukaryotic animal plants. The individual spindle fibers attach to the chromosomes at the kinetochore of each (sister) chromatid. This spindle fiber-kinetochore complex allows for the migration of chromatids/chromosomes.

  3. Spindle fibers Centrioles in plant and some fungi cells come from microtubule organizing centers (MTOC).

  4. Spindle fiber action Those spindle fibers (microtubules) attached to the centromeres of chromatids move these chromatids to the opposite poles of the dividing cell. Those unattached elongate the cell by ‘growing forward.’

  5. cytokinesis The M phase of cell division is Mitosis. The C phase of cell division is Cytokinesis.

  6. cytokinesis Cytokinesis occurs in eukaryotic animal cells by a ring of microfilaments tightening around the cell to ‘pinch off’ the cell membrane and cytoplasm. This tightening produces a cleavage furrow.

  7. Cytokinesisandplants Plants produce a cell plate which consists of forming vesicles filled with cellulose. This separates the cytoplasm of the two newly forming cells.
