  2. Energy and Electrical Appliances 1950-Present Day • 1950s • Not many electrical appliances in the homes • Most homes would have a radio • Some people had a camera which used photographic film

  3. Energy and Electrical Appliances 1950-Present Day • 1960s • People were able to afford televisions but the picture was only in black and white. There was no colour on television until the 1970’s

  4. Energy and Electrical Appliances 1950-Present Day • 1970s • It was usual for homes to have a radio and television • Fridges and washing machines were common

  5. Energy and Electrical Appliances 1950-Present Day • 1970s • Video recorders had been invented and were now being used by people • Sony walkman appeared. • Music was played on a tape

  6. Energy and Electrical Appliances 1950-Present Day • 1980s • More electrical machines were invented and being used in the home • Dishwashers, Microwave ovens, CD players, Video cameras were now affordable

  7. Energy and Electrical Appliances 1950-Present Day • 1990s • This decade saw the home computer appear. • Computers were now smaller and people could afford them. • The Internet was widely used.

Information was stored by computers on floppy discs. They are no longer used. • Turntables • Turntables were once used to play music and are now only used by some people who still buy vinyl records
