  2. What is a Weekly World Watch? The idea is simple. It is to look at current events and compare them to events spoken of in the Bible. . I hope to build up a picture of God’s hand working in the affairs of this world. God is bringing about a day when all nations will be gathered to Jerusalem to battle. At that time God will send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, back to this earth. Jesus will then establish God’s kingdom on earth. This kingdom will last for ever. This is our hope and the reason we watch. The following six themes will appear repeatedly in WWW: • Israel: The continuing conflict in the Middle East and focus on Jerusalem. • Europe: Its developing union, both political and religious. • Russia: Its return to anti-Western ways as Bible prophecy’s “king of the north.” • The UK and the US: Bible prophecy’s “king of the south.” • Moral standards in decline and violence on the increase. • Increasing natural disasters: including earthquake, famine etc WWW presentations in PowerPoint can be ordered as audio/visual CDs by clicking here. It is in no way meant to be exhaustive – just a look at those events I saw as significant from a Biblical point of view. Every WWW event slide has the following format. News Photo This is straight from a news report that caught my eye because it looked significant from a Biblical perspective, usually that of prophecy. HEADLINE The source of the headline and the date are included. This is the reporter’s description of the event. It is always a direct quotation from the news report and reflects the understanding of the reporter and editors. EVENT This is my comment on why the event is interesting to a Bible student. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.  Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her. And I will kindle a fire in Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad. (Benhadad is a title of any ruler of Syria) Russia and US brace for conflict in Syria as tensions boil over sparking ALL-OUT WAR fears Express, August 29, 2018 Russia has deployed its largest naval contingent to Syria since it entered the conflict in October 2015, as the US ramped up its rhetoric about an imminent chemical weapons attack that Washington cautioned would result in a military response. The news has sparked fears of all-out war between Damascus and Washington, fuelled by the bellicose actions of Putin’s Moscow as he moves to flex his military muscles in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the region. Amid rapidly escalating tensions between the US and Moscow in Syria, Russian newspaper Izvestiya reported on Tuesday Russia had sent an unprecedented fleet of 10 ships, mostly armed with Kalibr cruise missiles, and two submarines to the eastern Mediterranean — with more naval enforcements on the way — in response to apparent increased US military presence in the area. EVENT COMMENT There is one last major rebel controlled area in Syria – a region called Idlib. The battle (expected to start anytime) is anticiapted to be the final showdown in the 7 year conflict in Syria. The UN warned on Tuesday that this battle could spark a humanitarian emergency “at a scale not yet seen” in the conflict. Russia has sent at least a dozen warships to Syria to help Assad take this area. It is the largest Russian naval build-up in the Med so far. On Wednesday, Russia delivered a veiled warning to the West not to stand in the way of an “anti-terror operation” in Idlib. But the US is warning they will strike if any chemical weapons are used. In Jeremiah we read of 2 places that hear destruction is coming. Hamath and Arpad. These 2 cities in Syria are either side of Idlib. The final destruction of Damascus comes at this same time….   6. At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. The NIV says “engage in battle” the AV says “push”. It is a military provocation and it is fast approaching. Russia warns US not to ‘play with fire’ in Syria RT, August 30, 2018 Russia’s foreign minister is the latest official to warn the US against using a possible chemical weapons provocation to justify a new strike against Syrian forces. He said Moscow warned the West not to play with fire in Syria. Sergey Lavrov reiterated the warning that a staged chemical weapons attack in Syria’s Idlib province may trigger a US-led attack on the forces loyal to Damascus. “A new provocation is being prepared by the West to hamper the anti-terrorist operation in Idlib,” Lavrov said during a joint media conference with his Syrian counterpart, Walid Muallem. “We have facts on the table and have issued a strong warning to our Western partners through our Defense Ministry and our Foreign Ministry not to play with fire.” The US earlier stated that it would retaliate to a possible a chemical attack by the Syrian government, using more firepower than it did in April. EVENT COMMENT Russia has spent all week lambasting the US at the UN and in the wider media. On Tuesday, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations said (during a special UN Security Council) that the US “continues its inherently neo-colonial course aimed at division of Syria” as the US-led coalition supports the establishment of some “loyal governmental substitutes. ” He continued, “It is becoming clear that the US attempts to take hold of the Syrian territory and gain control over its resources.” The Bible talks about events soon to happen in Syria. A military push (provocation) by the king of the south (US / UK) against Russia. The push is undoubtedly in Syria as this was the original home of the original king of the north in ancient times. Iran builds missile factory in Syria under Russian shield The Times, August 31, 2018 Iran is building a missile factory in Syria under the cover of a Russian defence umbrella and is sending ballistic missiles to its allies in Iraq, according to reports that have raised fears of an expanding confrontation with Israel. Satellite images showed what appeared to be a base and factory taking shape in northwest Syria near the town of Baniyas. It is in an area covered by a Russian S-400 aerial defence system set up to protect Moscow’s operations in the Syrian civil war, which would make it a tricky target for an Israeli airstrike. It was also reported that Iran had sent ballistic missiles capable of reaching Tel Aviv or Riyadh to militias operating in Iraq. Israel has vowed to attack missile transfers by Iran and has done so regularly in Syria, but has not struck militias in Iraq allied to Iran. With Iraq torn between its western and Iranian alliances, an Israeli strike would cause further instability. Israel has hit suspected weapons bases in Syria more than 100 times in recent years, fearing that Iran and Hezbollah, its proxy militia in neighbouring Lebanon, are using the chaos of the war to expand their arsenal. EVENT Israel has spotted the Iranian missile factory using satellites. The base’s layout is reminiscent of Parchin, Iran’s highly secretive missile development centre. Reuters reported this week that Iran has given ballistic missiles to Shi’ite proxies in Iraq and is developing the capacity to build more there to deter attacks on its interests in the Middle East. Iran is clearly becoming more aggressive since Trump pulled out of the nuclear deal. What is very interesting is that Iran is building its new missile factory under Russia’s protection. This will be very alarming to Israel as it hinders them massively from attacking the base. The Bible says that Iran will be protected by Russia. The word “guard” in Ezekiel 38 is used in the sense of being a bodyguard. COMMENT BIBLE QUOTE Persia [Iran], Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:  Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou [Gog / Putin] a guard unto them. Russia war games: Biggest since Cold War 'justified' BBC, August 28, 2018 EVENT Russia plans to hold massive war games involving 300,000 personnel next month - its biggest military manoeuvres since a Cold War drill in 1981.Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Vostok-2018 drills were justified given "aggressive and unfriendly" attitudes towards his country. Units from China and Mongolia will also take part in the exercises at military ranges in central and eastern Russia. The manoeuvres come at a time of rising tension between Nato and Russia. Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said 36,000 tanks, armoured personnel carriers and armoured infantry vehicles would take part in Vostok-2018, from 11 to 15 September, along with more than 1,000 aircraft. Vostok is Russian for east. All of Russia's airborne units and two of its naval fleets will also take part in the drills across Siberia and the Russian Far East. The scale of Vostok-2018 is equivalent to the forces deployed in one of the big World War Two battles. COMMENT The scale and scope of Vostok-2018 is unprecedented for modern Russia. The giant drill is clearly meant as a show of strength by Vladimir Putin and his military, a demonstration that - despite Western sanctions, including against the defence sector - the country remains defiant. It's also a reminder that while Russia is seen as a hostile and aggressive force in the West, Moscow has long seen Nato encroachment as the threat. President Putin's spokesman said that these war games were justified in what he called a "very aggressive and unfriendly" international context. It is incredible though to see the scale of this exercise. 300,000 personnel and1000 planes!! Surely the time of preparation for conflict is almost over. The Bible said that Putin [Gog] would prepare for war. This preparation on an immense scale… BIBLE QUOTE “Get ready; be prepared! Keep all the armies around you mobilized, and take command of them. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war Notice that Russia swoops down when Israel is recovering from war!   9. US ends all funding to UN for Palestinian refugees BBC, September 1, 2018 EVENT The United States is ending all funding for the UN's Palestinian refugee agency, the US State Department says. It described the organisation, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (Unrwa), as "irredeemably flawed". The US administration has "carefully reviewed" the issue and "will not make additional contributions to Unrwa," spokeswoman Heather Nauert said. A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas later said the move was an "assault" against his people. "Such a punishment will not succeed to change the fact that the United States no longer has a role in the region and that it is not a part of the solution," Nabil Rudeina told Reuters news agency. He added that the decision was "a defiance of UN resolutions". COMMENT There are two United Nation organisations for refugees. The one is called UNHCR. The other is called UNRWA. UNRWA only looks after Palestinian refugees. UNHCR looks after all refugees for the rest of the whole world! So why is there just one agency dedicated to looking after just one tiny group of people. The answer is simple. The Palestinian refugees are no longer a tiny group of people. Unlike all other refugees Palestinian refugee descendants are also classed as refugees. With every other refugee future children are not classed as refugees and eventually therefore are assimilated into the country they fled to. But uniquely with Palestinians every descendant is classed as a refugee! This is why there are now 5,000,000 Palestinian refugees! It has reached that number since 1948. These people live in surrounding countries like Jordan and still live in tents! The Bible talks about these people…. BIBLE QUOTE With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.” With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you— the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, This refers to Palestinian refugees (Psalm 83:3-6 NIV)

  10. A deadly storm is coming in Syria CNN, August 30, 2018 EVENT Russia is preparing its biggest military exercises in close to four decades: 300,000 troops, 36,000 vehicles in its own far east. Meanwhile, nine time zones to its west, Russia is shifting an unprecedented number of warships into the Mediterranean and Russian state media reported that the Russian navy and air force are set to hold large-scale exercises in the Mediterranean Sea in early September. While the world is distracted by the destructive politics pitting Donald Trump against America's establishment and other global leaders, an ugly undercurrent of events is sucking Syria back into a vortex of what could become one of the ugliest episodes in the country's seven-year war. Now, the final battle looms and a world weary of the continual carnage is looking the other way. But the tempo for the final phase of fighting is just picking up if you care to read the signs. Phone calls between capitals and frosty diplomatic meetings have been coming apace this past week or so as well as a slew of Russian propaganda. COMMENT A deadly storm IS coming in Syria. It will see the total destruction of Damascus. It will involve Israel who themselves will be greatly weakened by events that occur. It will see Israel victorious though over her enemies that surround her. i.e. the Palestinians, Hamas, Syria, Hezbollah, Jordan. But with the total fall of Syria (which will involve a military provocation by the US against Russia) a dangerous vacuum will be left. Israel will be recovering from war but into that vacuum the armies of Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya and Ethiopia will pour. They will come like a tsunami and sweep into Israel and beyond into Egypt. Christ will appear in the clouds of heaven at some point around the destruction of Damascus. Therefore the appearing of Jesus in the sky might be soon. Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!  The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.  BIBLE QUOTE (Isaiah 17:12-13)
