  1. Circuits Drill: What is the resistance of a fan, if there is a potential difference of 50V and the current flowing to the fan is 10A? Objective: SWBAT describe how current flows through different circuits successfully through notes and lab.

  2. TOC • Open up your TOC and write in on page 6, “Circuit Notes” • Turn to a blank page and title it.

  3. Circuit • An Electrical Circuit is a closed path in which current can flow through.

  4. Two types of circuits • Series Circuit - has all the resistors lined up along the same path. • If there is a break in the path (a light bulb is unscrewed), the current cannot flow through.

  5. Series Circuit

  6. Parallel Circuit • Parallel Circuit is set up so there are individual loops with resistors on them. • If a resistor is removed, only that individual loop cannot have current flow through it.

  7. Parallel Circuit

  8. Building Circuit Lab • Each group will get a box containing parts of a circuit. • You must test out different circuits • Know what happens when there is a break along various sections of each circuit. • Know what type of circuit keeps the light bulb the brightest.

  9. Follow-up • Write a half page summary of the lab you did today. • Explain all the differences you noticed with series and parallel circuits. • Advantages and disadvantages • How you were able to measure both the potential difference and the current.

  10. Homework • What is Electricity WS
