Site Ranking • 5 Stars - • I gave this ranking because the experience I gained was extremely valuable. I was given the opportunity to use my creativity and skills to produce mail-outs for camp and other women’s basketball events. I learned a lot about the inter-workings of a top Division I basketball program and what all it takes to put on the summer camps.

Words of Wisdom • Meet/Introduce yourself to as many people as possible. • Get to know the donors/major fans of the program (helps for luncheons). • If you do not understand or do not know, ask questions! • Stay on-top of camp paperwork. • Stay organized! It will help in the long-run.
Internship Objectives • My overall objective: My overall objective was to learn the inter-workings of a successful collegiate basketball program. • Other objectives: • To network with other individuals in the sport industry that I come into contact with to further my networking circle to further my career. • To gain more knowledge of computer programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Access, and Publisher. • To promote youth participation in basketball, including summer camps, Junior Aggie clinics, and other women’s basketball events. • To promote women’s basketball as a whole and to encourage more students to attend games and other events to support the program. • To gain more knowledge of the amount of work and detail that go into putting on the different camps throughout the summer.
Summary of Daily Activities • Enter and/or file camp paperwork. • Work on recruiting/camp mail-outs with Photoshop. • Compile mail-out lists in Excel/sent out camp mail-outs. • Answer camp phone calls/emails. • Complete anything needed for the coaches, Erich, DeAnna, or Charlee. • Contact newspapers and places to put brochures out in the community. • Update the recruiting database with Texas High School basketball coaches’ current email addresses. • During the season • Complete game reports and enter in recruiting information into the recruiting database. • Help Erich complete items for team travel (itineraries, setting up dinner/after-game meals, etc.). • Send out thank-you cards to Guest Coaches for home games.
Brief Summary of the Project Description: Summer Camp Handbook My project is an updated version of the previous mail-out binder that we currently have for camps. The updates in my handbook for camps will include the different letters sent out to high schools, returning campers, Jr. Aggie club members, and A&M Club Presidents; an updated version of school lists, campers, and Jr. Aggie members; places to advertise for camps and to put out brochures. But in addition to updates for the 2010 summer camps, I will include camp FAQ’s for camp phone calls and e-mails; procedures for handling the camp database, including screen prints to show what to fill in for individuals versus what to fill in for team camp; a step-by-step calendar to show the different dates for camp mail-outs, confirmation letters, etc.; explanations of team camp and how to handle their applications; and the filing system for each of the summer camp sessions.
