2004: A pre study finished: Qualitative interviews with 18 students • 2004 – 2005: A national survey including appr. 1500 students • 2005 -2006: Similar studies in Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Indonesia and Tanzania
Characteristics of the Distant Student Role • The importanse of the household and the workplace as learning arenas • Triple work • Flexibility in terms of time, space and progress • The role has to be ”constructed” over and over again
