Stop-motion animation • Filming of puppets/figures • Often small-scale figures are used • Puppets/figures are filmed, moved slightly and then filmed again • Shots are strung together, so it gives the impression of movement • Ray Harryhousen was a great pioneer in the field • Examples: Wallace and Grommit, King Kong (1933)
Computer animation • Drawing of models and sets in the computer • 1980s – 3D that was photorealistic appeared in movies; by 1990s could be used for entire films • Pixar is a giant in computer animation • Examples: Toy Story, Wall-E, How to Train Your Dragon
