  2. What is it? Niagara: waterfall in Canada is the Horseshoe Falls; in the United States it is the American Falls.

  3. Where is it Located? • 43.0800° N, 79.0710° W Niagara Falls, Coordinates ^ • Niagara Falls is a city in Niagara County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 50,193, down from the 55,593 recorded in the 2000 census. • Area: 16.8 sq. miles (43.51 km²)

  4. Transportation Some ways you can get to Niagara Falls are: • By Air- Fly to either Buffalo New York or Toronto Canada. Buffalo/Niagara International Airport is 25 miles/41 kilometers to the Falls. • By Train: Train service is available to & from Niagara Falls Canada on VIA Rail and Go Transit. The train station is 2.6 kilometers/1.6 miles North of the Rainbow Bridge and one block north of River Road at 4221 Bridge Street. Taxi service is available from the stations. • By Car: Using your favorite mapping software try 1 Prospect Point in Niagara Falls NY or 1 Falls Ave for Niagara Falls Ontario Canada. • By Bus: The bus terminal in Niagara Falls Canada (Niagara Falls Transit) is at 4555 Erie Avenue.

Reasons why you might go to Niagara Falls • The Falls • The Maid of the Mist- A famous boat ride that takes passengers as close as can be to the base of the thundering Niagara Falls. • Helicopter over the Falls • Table Rock- The Table Rock welcome Centre is a fantastic place to take photos and see the Falls up close. • Clifton Hill- A famous street in Niagara that is well known for the fun atmosphere that attracts kids of all ages and the young at heart. Museums such as Ripley’s Believe It or Not, The Mystery Maze and Louis Tussauds Waxworks line the street.

Reasons to Go (Continued) • Golfing • Culinary Experience- Niagara region has some excellent restaurants offering the Farm to Table experience featuring locally grown produce • Niagara Wineries- With more than 60 wineries in the region, this is one of the premier wine regions of Canada where you can sample international award-winning wines. • Whirlpool Jet boat Tours • Shaw Festival- From April to November theatre buffs flock to Niagara-on-the-Lake to take in one of the many plays featuring the works of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries.

  8. Weather Conditions • Temperature ranges from the 30s to the 80s throughout the year. • Rainfall is around 2 inches to 4 inches. -Facts: On average, the warmest month is July. The highest recorded temperature was 97°F in 2005. The average coolest month is January. The lowest recorded temperature was -15°F in 1996. The maximum average precipitation occurs in November.

  9. Random Facts About the Niagara Falls The Niagara Falls are located on the border of Ontario, Canada and New York, USA. The Niagara Falls are made up of 3 waterfalls, the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. The Horseshoe Falls are the largest and the Bridal Veil Falls the smallest. The 3 waterfalls combine to produce the highest flow rate of any waterfall on earth. The largest vertical drop is over 165 feet (50 meters). The Niagara Falls were created by glacier activity around 10000 years ago.

More Random facts… • The Niagara Falls have long been a popular tourist destination, boosted by a number of movies featuring the falls and even a daring performance by famous Illusionist David Copperfield in 1990. • Goat Island sits in the middle of the Niagara Falls, between Horseshoe Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. • A monument dedicated to Serbian-American inventor Nikola Tesla sits on Goat Island. • The Niagara Falls are visited by around 30 million people every year. • The Niagara Falls State Park is the oldest state park in the United States (1885).
