  2. Description -Ranges in color from grey to brown or green. They start out as a burnt orange spotted color until eventually turning grey. Females are often brown. Can reach up to 6 feet or longer. Dorsal fin that stretches length of the body Large square head

  3. -Abundantly found in sea of Japan, Aleutian Islands, and southern California -Lives in sub tidal waters approx. 740 ft. -Can be found along reefs and cliffs near docks . -They usually claim territory in crevices, dens, or in rocks. -Younger wolf eels can be found towards top of the water. Habitat Reproduction: • -Males and females form pairs at 4 years old and produce eggs at 7 years. • Mating occurs from October to late Winter. • 10,000 eggs can be released at a time. • Mates for life

  4. Diet • Has sharp teeth to crush objects, or creatures. Eats crustaceans, sea urchins, mussels. Clams, snails, and some fish.

  5. Interesting… • After fertilizing eggs, the mother and father wrap themselves around the eggs for 13 to 16 weeks until the eggs hatch. • They are known to be curious and friendly, and only aggressive to other wolf eels • It’s technically not an eel, but apart of the wolffish family.
