The Local Context • Pasay has considerable movement of migrants into the city's low-income areas • The average Pasay household is 7 persons per household. The city has a total of 73,846 households. • Pasay is considered as one of the child trafficking hot spots having the highest number of bars and prostitution dens employing victims of trafficking. • There are still grade 5-6 students who are non-readers as per teachers’ assessment • Due to poverty, it is normal to see 3 or more families living under one roof • Pasay is awarded as a Child Friendly City
2004 PAI Research General Findings • Many Out-of-School Youth and Children (OSCY) • Many of the Parents of the OSCY are unemployed • Youth and children are highly at risk to prostitution, gangs, drugs, child labor, child trafficking, etc. CFSI.Rebuilding Lives.
