SPIRIT • Mark 14:38 the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak • John 1:12-13 children of God born by the will of God through faith in His will expressed by His Son– not by blood or will of flesh or the will of man • John 6:52 it is the spiritthatgives life; the flesh profits nothing • John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh • John 7:24 Do not judge according to appearance

  3. FLESH VS. SPIRIT • Galatians 5:19-23 works of the flesh vs. fruit of the Spirit • Sexual sins • Idolatrous abominations • Selfish attitudes • Sins of excess • 1 John 2:16 lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, the pride of life • Fruit of the Spirit godly thinking and behavior • Rom. 8:1-14

SPIRIT • Have a body; not to be guided by it 1 Cor. 6:12-20 • Have sight; not to be guided by it 2 Cor. 5:7 • Have feelings; not to be guided by them • We must be led by Spirit thru the Word • John 6:63 The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life • Walk by faith 2 Cor. 5:7 • Faith comes by the word of God Rom. 10:17

CAN WE TRUST OUR FEELINGS? • Genesis 37:18-35 Jacob’s feelings are very real, but they do not change reality • Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. • James 1:22-27 we can deceive ourselves • Any impure motive will lead us astray 2 Thess. 2:9-12 IF • We do notlove the truth • Love something else more • We will be deceived
