  1. How To Protect Your Pool Against Chlorine And Other Chemicals?

  2. Although there are many advantagesto swimming, including the fun, exercise and release of endorphins, there are also concerns about the number of toxins which the body is exposed to during swimming. Obviously, products such as chlorine and disinfectants are necessary for keeping the water clean and free of bacteria. However, there are many associated disadvantages to swimming in chlorinated water such as dry or discoloured hair, irritation to the eyes and skin, breathing difficulties and even disruption to hormones. That being said, there is no need to stop swimming in order to prevent any lasting damage from swimming pool chemicals. This is mainly because as there are measures which can be taken to ensure that any dangers posed by chlorine and associated disinfectants can be safely and quickly eased.

  3. Outdoor Pools Studies have found that although outdoor swimming pools still use a number of chemicals for safety purposes, the prospect of harm done by these is minimised in comparison to indoor swimming pools. The reason for this is that in an Internal pool the odours and gases given off by the chemicals have nowhere to go and so they tend to hover above the water level. In an outdoor facility, the air can help to clear those chemicals away from the immediate area.

  4. Rinsing The majority of swimming areas give you the opportunity of rinsing or showering prior to bathing. Many believe this is to prevent germs and bacteria being taken into the pool but this is actually something of a misnomer. In fact, showering prior to swimming has been proven as a fantastic way of protecting the body and hair from absorbing chemicals. In addition, chlorine has been proven to react quite potently with sweat, causing a chemical compound called chloramine which can be very harmful, so rinsing the body of sweat has a further advantage.

  5. Coconut Oil Ask any health fanatic about their favourite miracle ingredient and they’ll probably say it’s coconut oil. Not only is coconut oil a great moisturiser, protector against eczema and effective massage oil, it is also suitable for a variety of cookery applications. In addition, it acts as a barrier to prevent the body from absorbing anything harmful into the top layer of the skin.

  6. Vitamin C Finally, a spray of a mixture of Vitamin C powder and water all over the body and hair can help to neutralise any nasties that have managed to make it through the above measures. Vitamin C has long been considered a great neutraliser and detoxifier, so it seems only natural that when you’re attempting to protect the body from a potentially harmful chemical compound, it would be used. It can also leave the skin and hair glowing.
