  1. Alcohol Education and Risk Management

  2. Philosophy Statement of Pi Kappa Phi In June 2003, Pi Kappa Phi completed a Risk Management Report. The report outlined methods to strengthen policies, improve education and training, provide comprehensive alcohol education, and prevent/reduce alcohol related harm to our students, chapters, and National Fraternity. The philosophy was developed as a part of the Risk Management Report.

  3. FIPG Policy • The letters FIPG have become well-known throughout the Greek community. It is clear that our one-page risk management policy has become the standard for nearly every Greek organization. • There are currently 47 Greek-letter men's and women's fraternities that are FIPG members and who have based their risk management policies on the FIPG policy. • FIPG has much more to offer than a risk management policy. It is the document that can help Pi Kappa Phimembers reduce our risks as an organization and as individuals. • FIPG website: www.fipg.org

  4. FRMT/Insurance Pi Kappa Phi’s insurance policy currently provides Blanket Public General Liability Coverage of $250,000 per occurrence and $500,000 aggregate for each chapter and chapter house organizations.

  5. ASTP Forty Pi Kappa Phi chapters will receive the ASTP Program this academic year. A trained volunteer will deliver this two and a half hour program. ASTP is unlike most alcohol programs because it acknowledges that college students drink, and rather than try to impose abstinence on college students, it acknowledges that any steps toward reduced risk are steps in the right direction. The goal of ASTP is to educate Pi Kappa Phi members about alcohol-related behavior while increasing members’ interest in critically examining their drinking patterns and eventually implementing the skills they learn.

  6. Ladder of Risk Program The Ladder of Risk is the newest program to our alcohol education menu with 70 chapters targeted to receive this program in the upcoming academic year. A trained volunteer will educate members and associate members on the risk management policy of Pi Kappa Phi. Additionally, through this 2.5 hour program, members and associate members will learn how to host a safe chapter event and ways to reduce their risks as a chapter.

  8. Crisis Management Don’t let chapters reinvent the wheel and create a Crisis Management Plan. The “plan” is available on the RM downloads section of the Pi Kappa Phi website. The RG, CA, and Archon should teach Risk Management and Crisis Management to the membership so they know what to do if a crisis occurs. At the chapter level, the Archon of the chapter should take charge in any crisis. Ensure the Risk Management Statement of Responsibility is signed each semester.
