New Scaling Method OpenRoads Legacy Vs Ratio (50:1) Multiplication factor: 50x Scale = (50 x 12) Multiplication factor : 600x For ORD Workspace, all Cells and linestyles that are scalable must be reduced by a factor of 12
OpenRoads Designer • Performance/Speed issues • Memory intensive • Some SUDA processing seems very slow • Our going forward CADD equipment: • I7-6700 Processor • 32 GB DDR4 • Solid State Drives • Release Schedule • Quarterly Updates from Bentley • Update 3 released in April • Backwards compatibility of files • 2018 Release 2 (last week !) Other Agency Adoption 2018 – None 2019 – 1st Quarter PennDOT Georgia DOT Illinois DOT NCDOT Summer Florida South Carolina Texas
NCDOT Implementation Plan Details • Pilot projects • Integrated with ProjectWise • March 2019 Implementation • Tentative • Will nearly complete projects remain in SS2/SS4? • Manday estimates • Transition Period (Dual Versions) • How long ? • Windows 7 support ends January 2020 • SS2 on Windows 10 • Training • Bentley LEARN
Hands On Workshop • Update CONNECT Workspace https://connect.ncdot.gov/resources/CADD/Pages/OpenRoadsDesigner.aspx
Hands On Workshop • Open ORD / Workspace / Workset
Hands On Workshop • Seed Files – NCDOT 2d and 3d
Hands On Workshop • Copy dgnlibs from current SS4 workspace to ORD workspace • Copy cells from current SS4 workspace to ORD workspace • Identify cells that need to be scaled • Convert cells to drawing scale (reduce by factor of 12) • Set model property toggle for annotation cell • Set active scale to 1/12 (increase accuracy to 8 decimal places) • Apply VBA • Place cell in (ORD) dgn file. • Set drawing scale to 1”=50’ • Place cell (ensure annotation lock is on) • Reference a (SS4) dgn file to it and compare • Test ability to push up to ORD Workspace
Hands On Workshop • Copy dgnlibs from current SS4 workspace to ORD workspace
