Content Area: Health Education • Grade Level: 6-8 • Summary: The purpose of this PowerPoint is to help student learn the difference between energy nutrition and non-energy nutrition. • Learning Objective: Given some definitions the student will have to identify the energy nutrition and non-energy nutrition with a 100% accuracy. • Content Standard: Identify the energy nutrients (fats, carbohydrates and protein) and non-energy nutrients (vitamins, minerals and water)
Non-Energy Nutrition's • Water - A colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers. • Minerals - A solid inorganic substance of natural occurrence. • Vitamins - Organic components in food that are needed in very small amounts for growth and for maintaining good health.
Energy nutrition's • Fat - A natural oily or greasy substance occurring in animal bodies, esp. when deposited as a layer under the skin or around certain organs. • Proteins - Proteins are fundamental components of all living cells and include many substances enzymes, hormones, and antibodies. • Carbohydrates - A component of food that supplies energy (calories) to the body..
