  2. How can you find the main idea? Ask yourself: WHO or WHAT is the story about? WHY did the author write it?

  3. For short readings:Look at the topic sentence Felipe loves to play soccer. He is not only on his community soccer team, but also on the Muchin soccer team. Felipe has played soccer ever since he was young. He dreams of one day becoming a pro soccer player and maybe even coaching soccer teams after he retires. Topic sentence: Felipe loves to play soccer. Main Idea: Felipe loves to play soccer.
