Division of Research: Purpose • Stimulate research and scholarship in regionally relevant and emerging areas • Provide quality research services to faculty and research staff • Meet Federal compliance mandates • Increase research funding & technology development • Bring to success major priorities & UNLV’s strategic plan
FY 2012-13 Priorities • Support new faculty and encourage strategic interdisciplinary initiatives • Streamline technology development and commercialization activities • Increase the number of competitive grants awarded

Current Activities • Pre- and Post-Award Grant-writing & Training: Sponsored Programs • “Grant Club” expansion • Animal Care Facility: Usage increased 200% between 2005 & 2010 • IRB: ~700 active protocols in 44 departments • EPSCoR and INBRE grants
