  1. [11-1 A] Angle Relationships Learning Objective Students will classify and determine the measure of angles. CW/HW: P2357: Textbook p. 607 #1-18 P4: Skills Practice

  2. Two rays with a common end point is called an angle. BAC CAB A 1 B A C 1 You can name this angle in 4 different ways. The common endpoint is called the vertex of the angle.

  3. Acute Angle: 0°<m A<90° Right Angle: m A=90° Obtuse Angle: 90°<m A<180° Straight Angle: m A=180° Angles can be classified in 4 ways by their degree measure. Angle Classifications

  4. Supplementary vs. Complementary 150° 30° 60° 30° »Two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures is 180°. »Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90°.

  5. Vertical vs. Adjacent Angles »When two lines intersect, they form two pairs of opposite angles called vertical angles. 2 1 3 4 »When two angles share a vertex and a side without overlapping they are called adjacent angles. »Example: 1 & 4

  6. ABC=180° DEF=45° XYZ=135° GHJ=90° Draw and label each angle and then classify it. Think-Pair-Share

  7. Create Your Own Problem For The Class Develop your own angle and have the class try and figure out what its supplementary angle is? Develop your own angle and have the class try and figure out what its complementary angle is?

  8. Review – Short Write • List several different types of angles and their characteristics.

  9. Student Self Assessment • Raise hand 1-5 based on how well you understand the material. • Did not understand at all • Did not get it but could with a little more help • Sort of get, need more practice • Understand, need more practice • Fully understand and ready for quiz
